What makes great teaching?

 What makes great teaching?

For my top five strategies i selected blogging with educators. I found is super helpful to be able to read some of my peers ideas and perspectives on the materials that we read because I felt as thought it brought new ideas that I hadn’t thought about previously. Another strategy I wrote about was doing the golden lines assignment. For me I had to read the text a second time and really think about what parts stood out to me the most and I felt as though doing that helped me understand the material to a deeper extent. Additionally, I liked learning the material through multiple sources like videos and text because watching people speak about the topic versus reading kind of brought more life to the material, I felt the emotional connection made the material easier to comprehend. Another strategy I wrote about was making the dos and donts list. This made me reflect on the information I learned and made me realize what I need to keep in mind and make a priority when teaching. Lastly I liked the word it out because it made me think about and find out the key points of what I learned.
Overall I believe there are many ways to teach things but I’m glad I learned a lot of unique ways to go about it and will use them in my future classes!

  1. Hi Ariadna! I enjoyed really enjoyed reading over your top 5 list! It seems like we all really enjoyed blogging this semester :) I agree, it was incredibly helpful and honestly a really fun way to get our ideas out and create conversations. Same here, blogging helped me think about things differently and even sparked ideas I hadn’t thought of before. Yes, I feel like re-reading articles is beneficial because you understand the text more whenever you do so. I couldn’t have said it better myself, the different media attached to the modules really did bring the material to life. I enjoyed watching videos because I feel like those help me a lot. When I have a lack of understanding I always look to videos for help! It seems like all of these strategies helped us better understand the material that we’re learning. They were all interactive and creative and I am glad I learned about them and used them in this course.

  2. I have to say reading our classmates blogs helps add to the picture because then we are able to see different points of view and receive new information by learning from them. The way we would be learning from our peers is by seeing what they understood and comparing notes. Videos I feel will always be win win option for people in general because all we have to do is have our ears listening to the words and eyes seeing the examples sprawled out on the screen. One of my favorite strategies was the dos and don'ts, because it teaches you and your students how to be in a classroom and how to treat classmates and all people.
